Data & Biobank

The main rationale of STYJOBS-Databank is to identify new “individual high risk patterns” in juvenile obesity by linking lab parameters (routine lab parameters, adipokines, lipid subfractions, molecular genetics), individual adipose tissue topography, early vascular changes, life style habits, sport performance diagnostics, and clincal data. STYJOBS-Databank. So far we investigated 500 obese probands (Age, 5-50years) and 250 normal weight, age matched healthy controls. Currently, 300 variables per study participant are available. Intended: 1200 Probands.

STYJOBS Biobank

The STYJOBS activities comprise the set up of a biomaterial resource (Serum/Plasma/DNA) from obese probands (age, 5-50 years) and age- and sex-matched controls for advanced research (e.g. molecular genetics) in obesity. Prospective cohort size: 1200 probands, 700 obese, 500 normal -weighted controls - "STYJOBS-Biobanking".
Biomaterial from parents of obese juveniles is collected for later molecular genetic investigations.
