Research interest

Our main research interests are:

1) The involvement and consequences of altered expression of non-coding RNAs including microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs in human cancer with a particular focus on colorectal, breast and kidney cancer. Currently, we are investigating the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of non-coding RNAs in cancer metastases, stem cell formation and tumor metabolism. To follow these aims, we developed tools and methods for RNA research, bioinformatic target prediction and genome editing.

2) Clinical Outcome Research and personalized biomarker studies on large datasets of human cancer. Based on clinical and laboratory characteristics, we are trying to figure out combinations of established and novel clinical, pathological and molecular factors to improve prognostic stratification and predictive accuracy of models for cancer patients.
