Dear visitor to our website,
dear colleague,
We cordially invite you to our Summer School on
Health Impact Assessment
held from 24 - 28 September 2012 in the charming city of Graz, Austria.
Based on the solid evidence that health can be influenced by all policies, the strategy of Health in All Policies (HiAP) aims to improve evidence-based policy-making and as such positively influence the determinants of health to maintain and protect the health of our populations. As health and wealth are related, HiAP also aims to tackle health inequalities between and within countries, which have largely remained or even grown.
Health impact assessment (HIA) is the means of realising the principles of HiAP. For several years HIA has been used as a tool that helps policy-makers to foresee how different policy options will affect health. HIA is currently the focus of considerable interest on the international (World Health Organisation, European Union) as well as on the national level.
It is therefore important that we improve our knowledge base and skills in the complex field of health impact assessments. This is what the 2012 Graz Public Health Summer School programme offers to advanced students and to professionals in the challenging field of modern public health.
We, the team of the Public Health School Graz, which has successfully carried out the Summer School 2007 on European Health Policy and the HIA Summer School 2011, hope to welcome you in Graz in September 2012!
With kind regards,
Martin Sprenger
