Recognition of Examinations

The general legal basis for the accreditation of examinations that applies to students can be found in the University Act 2002 under § 78, which among other things states that examinations passed by students attending a recognized Austrian or foreign post-secondary educational institution are to be accredited by administrative decision upon request of the student, provided they are equivalent to the examinations contained in the curriculum.

If the examination is at least 80% equivalent in terms of scope and content, it can be assumed that it will be accredited by the Studies Rector.   Please note that the accreditation process concerns a case-by-case decision made by the governing body responsible for study matters and may take up to 2 months to complete. Therefore, this information is to serve only as a general guideline.
