Basic Dermoscopy Course

Overview

Successful completion of the Basic Dermoscopy Course is awarded with the International Dermoscopy Diploma and is encouraged for enrolment in the Advanced Expert in Dermoscopy and Preventive Dermatooncolgy Course. The International Dermoscopy Diploma is open to any physician and nursing expert with a special interest in dermatooncology. The course focuses on both simple and more complex skin tumors and their dermoscopic diagnoses.

Program Objectives

The goal of this program is to provide substantiated practical skills, knowledge, and experience in dermoscopy and to offer extensive knowledge of the epidemiology and the primary and secondary prevention of skin cancer. After the successful completion of the course, participants will be able to effectively diagnose melanocytic and non-melanocytic skin tumors and to act as well-founded consultants in dermoscopy and preventive dermatooncology, both for patients and colleges.

The Basic Dermoscopy Course will provide the participants with a range of skills and knowledge, including:

  • Epidemiology of skin cancer
  • Primary and Secondary prevention
  • Dermoscopy criteria Pattern analysis and diagnostic algorithms
  • Special issues in dermoscopy
  • Dermoscopic-pathologic correlations
  • Dermoscopy in daily routine and consultation on the job
  • Future aspects

Course Format

The Basic Dermoscopic Course is designed to meet the needs also of working attendees by providing a flexible program with all of its requirements conducted Online.

The diploma course will take place at the Virtual Medical Campus (VMC). The VMC is a learning, and teaching system for students and teachers of the Medical University of Graz, Austria, and for eventual partner institutions. The Virtual Medical Campus accompanies attendance classes and supports blended and virtual learning scenarios and provides information concerning teaching and studies for the public.
