ao.Univ.-Prof. Albert Wölfler

Albert WÖLFLER is a hematologist who focuses his research on the normal development of myeloid cells as well as the pathogenesis of myeloid malignancies. In recent years he has worked on elucidating molecular mechanisms in early myelopoiesis including the role of the transcription factor C/EBPa on regulating instruction and development of early myeloid progenitors. Currently, he focuses on the role of C/EBPa in early dendritic cell development. In addition, he has explored the impact of distinct genetic and molecular alterations in the disease course of myeloid malignancies and is currently working on evaluating such genetic alterations for the monitoring of minimal residual disease in acute myeloid leukemia. He is a member of national steering committees focusing on myeloid malignancies and member of the European Hematology Association.
