Med Uni Graz is helping: Education for People with a Refugee Background

Helping people who must flee from war and violence is a major concern of the Medical University of Graz. With the support of the MORE initiative by uniko (, we have already taken the first step!

Admission as extraordinary students: Program identification code “990 956” with the designation “MORE Initiative”

Admission requirements:

  • Proof of identity A passport, identity card or driver’s license in combination with the proof of citizenship will be accepted

  • Online-Pre-Registration Those who wish to register for a degree program at Medical University of Graz for the first time have to register online in advance.

  • No Tuition Fee
    The tuition fee of € 383,56 will be waived for asylum seekers by the Rector’s Office

  • No Student Union Fee
    The student union fee of € 20,20 will also be waived for asylum seekers by the Student Union

Recognition of extraordinary academic achievements is allowed only in clearly defined cases (§ 78 (7) University Law

Recognition may only be accorded to examinations passed by non-degree-seeking students, if taken in connection with university further education courses or prior to passing the secondary-school leaving examination or university entrance qualification examination or the supplementary examination providing proof of physical fitness or artistic aptitude appropriate to the program of study for which the examination is recognized (§ 78 (7) University Law).

Validation of completed academic degrees:

For those who have already completed an academic degree, it is possible to have the degree validated in accordance with § 90 University Law.
