Tenure Track Professor of Perioperative Outcomes Research

We are looking for an excellent scientist/researcher with great potential to develop an internationally renowned research agenda in the field of perioperative outcomes research. The successful candidate should be a qualified expert in perioperative outcomes and promote it in research and teaching. The initial appointment is limited to six years. After the conclusion of a qualification agreement (assistant professor), the career advancement goal is to transfer to a tenured position as an associate professor (tenure track professor pursuant to § 99 para. 5 and 6 of the Universities Act). If the candidate demonstrates outstanding and remarkable achievements, the qualification agreement may be fulfilled as quickly as possible.


Ihre Aufgaben in dieser Position beinhalten:

  • Conducting cutting-edge scientific research in the field of perioperative outcomes research
  • Acquiring competitive third-party funding and taking the lead in research projects
  • Establishing an internationally renowned multidisciplinary team
  • Teaching at the university and advising students pursuing human medicine diplomas and doctoral studies
  • Mentoring and promoting young researchers
  • Establishing and maintaining networks and collaborations with national and international partner institutions
  • Supporting scientific and public outreach in his/her research area (public lectures, media, etc.)


Für diese Position bringen Sie folgende Qualifikationen und Kenntnisse mit:

  • Degree in human medicine and a related doctoral degree
  • Specialist (Facharzt) in anaesthesiology
  • Excellent track record with publications in leading journals and third-party acquisition of funding for perioperative outcomes research
  • Experience in teaching and/or (co)supervising doctoral students and/or training of post-doctoral fellows (depending on the applicant’s career stage)
  • National and international scientific collaborations
  • High level of proficiency in both written and spoken German and English (proficiency level C1)
