Philipp ELLER is Associate Professor for Internal Medicine and focuses his research on genetic and acquired risk factors of atherosclerosis and media sclerosis. He has specialized in Intensive Care Medicine, Angiology, Diabetology and Endocrinology in order to integrate different aspects of vascular biology in his academic research. In recent years he has explored the complex interaction of systemic and local triggers and protectors of vascular calcification. Thereby, he has characterized a panel of novel pharmacological tools that may serve as starting points for the clinical development of drugs. His primary aim is to find novel mediators and pathways that regulate vascular plasticity. Philipp Eller is Head of the Intensive Care Unit at the Department of Internal Medicine and Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management.
