Quality control mechanisms in vascular aging, hypertension and kidney disease

Vascular stiffening and hypertension are key signs of aging, often linked to renal dysfunction. In this project, we will investigate how quality control mechanisms are impaired in various vascular cell types and in relevant models of hypertension and kidney disease. Additionally, we will test whether novel interventions targeting these fundamental processes can be utilized to counteract vascular and kidney diseases in these models. With the aim of translating our findings to humans, we will eventually examine our findings in relevant human biomaterials.
