Akos Heinemann - Foto: Helmut Lunghammer

Akos Heinemann is a university professor of pharmacology at the Medical University of Graz. After studying medicine in Graz and conducting research at Imperial College London, he established an internationally networked research profile in pharmacology. His work focuses on molecular mechanisms of inflammation regulation, immunopharmacology, and vascular biology—at the interface between basic research and clinical application. His group investigates how pharmacological signaling pathways and immune responses interact and what role they play in lung and vascular health.

In addition to his research, Akos Heinemann is strongly committed to promoting young talent and structural development, including as former spokesperson for the PhD program in Molecular Medicine (MolMed) and the FWF Doctoral College DK-MOLIN. He is considered an important driving force for linking preclinical and clinical research in line with the One Health concept.
