Research focus: Metabolism

PI: Saša Frank

Focus: Endothelial lipase, lipoproteins, metabolites, endothelial function, acute heart failure

Network: Relationship between endothelial lipase, serum lipoproteins metabolites and endothelial function will be examined in healthy subjects as well as in patients with metabolic syndrome and acute heart failure in collaboration with Vesna Degoricija (Medical Faculty, Zagreb), Anatol Kontush (INSERM, Paris), Tobias Madl and Eva Bernhard (Molecular biology & Biochemistry), Gunther Marsche (Pharmacology), Seth Hallström, Gerhard Cvirn (Physiological Chemistry) and Brigitte Pelzmann (Biophysics).

Projects

Relationship between endothelial lipase, lipoproteins and endothelial function in healthy subjects and patients with metabolic syndrome

  • The aim of this project is to examine how endothelial lipase induced alterations in serum levels, composition and function of lipoproteins in particular of high-density lipoprotein affects endothelial function in healthy subjects and patients with metabolic syndrome.
  • Duration: 2020-2023
  • Funded by: Med Uni Graz
  • Project partners:Tobias Madl, Gunther Marsche, Seth Hallström, Gerhard Cvirn, Eva Bernhard, Vesna Degoricija, Anatol Kontush

Prognostic capacity of lipids, lipoproteins and metabolites in patients with acute heart failure

  • The project examines the prognostic capacity of serum lipids, lipoproteins and metabolites as well as composition and function of high-density lipoproteins in patients with acute heart failure.
  • Duration: 2015-2025
  • Funded by: 2015-2019 (FWF, OeNB)
  • Project partners: Tobias Madl, Gunther Marsche, Seth Hallström, Gerhard Cvirn, Eva Bernhard, Brigitte Pelzmann, Vesna Degoricija, Anatol Kontush
