Tenure Track Professor of Translational Bioinformatics and Precision Medicine

Bewerbungsfrist: 23.10.2025
We are looking for an excellent researcher with great potential to develop an internationally recognized research agenda in the field of translational bioinformatics and precision medicine. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and teaching with a focus on genome analyses in the context of precision medicine and liquid biopsy. The Diagnostic & Research Institute of Human Genetics at the Medical University of Graz focuses its research on rare and inherited tumor diseases, precision medicine, and in particular on liquid biopsy technologies. The institute is dedicated to the non-invasive analysis of circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA), providing dynamic insights into tumor-associated molecular changes that underpin early cancer detection, biomarker discovery, and minimal residual disease monitoring. Applications now extend beyond oncology into prenatal diagnostics, transplant medicine, immunology, and autoimmune disorders. Excellent research conditions and a state-of-the-art infrastructure - including a molecular diagnostics laboratory, a large-scale Biobank Graz, and integration into the Diagnostic and Research Center for Molecular BioMedicine offer an optimal foundation. Moreover, the institute maintains an extensive network of national and international partners across academia and industry, which together foster innovative projects and interdisciplinary exchange. The initial appointment is limited to six years. After the conclusion of a qualification agreement, the career advancement goal is to transfer to a tenured position as an associate professor (tenure track professor pursuant to § 99 para. 5 and 6 of the Universities Act). If the candidate demonstrates outstanding and remarkable achievements, the qualification agreement may be fulfilled more quickly.
