The Division of Cardiac Surgery is looking for a

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • This position is associated with a dissertation/PhD project in the field of cardiovascular tissue research. The project focuses on the investigation and further development of experimental models for analyzing heart valve tissue under controlled laboratory conditions—specifically, the development of a bioreactor
  • Planning, conducting and analyzing experimental studies with cardiovascular tissue
  • Extablishing and optimizing suitable laboratory protocols
  • Investigating tissue quality, structure, function, and biological viability
  • Applying histological, microscopic, biological, and potentially biomechanical analysis methods
  • Documenting and statistically analyzing experimental data
  • Contributing to the further development of translational experimental models
  • Working in an interdisciplinary research environment
  • Preparing scientific publications, reports, and presentations


Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • A completed Master’s degree (biology, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, tissue engineering, biomedical engineering)
  • Strong interest in cardiovascular research, tissue biology, and translational biomedical research
  • Experience with tissue preparation, histology, microscopy, cell or tissue culture, molecular biology methods, or experimental laboratory work would be advantageous
  • Very good English language skills; German language skills are an advantage

Für die Position ist ein kollektivvertragliches Bruttogehalt (auf Basis Vollzeitbeschäftigung) von EUR xxx (14x jährlich) vorgesehen. Das Bruttogehalt kann sich gegebenenfalls auf Basis der kollektivvertraglichen Vorschriften durch die Anrechnung tätigkeitsspezifischer Vorerfahrungen bzw. zuzüglich allfälliger, den Besonderheiten des Arbeitsplatzes entsprechender, Zulagen erhöhen.
