During the winter semester, Med Uni Graz welcomes 25 Erasmus and SEMP students from partner universities for a study visit in Graz. At the start of the semester, the International Office organized a varied welcome program: in addition to a two-week preparatory intensive German course, the students attended an Intercultural Awareness Workshop. On September 17, they were officially welcomed by Erwin Petek, Vice Rector of Studies and Teaching, at the Welcome Day and received lots of useful information about studying at Med Uni Graz, followed by a guided tour of Graz. An excursion to the Zotter chocolate factory rounded off the program. In addition to these longer-term study visits, 131 students from all over the world will come to Med Uni Graz in the winter semester for clinical placements and traineeships as part of CEEPUS, Erasmus+ and the Clinical Rotations and Research Abroad mobility program.
For many Med Uni Graz students, the semester also began with an experience abroad: 18 medical students are spending the winter semester or the entire academic year at one of Med Uni Graz's many European partner universities, one student in Mexico. 17 students are completing clinical electives or CPY traineeships at partner institutions outside Europe, and another ten students are using the winter semester for clinical electives, CPY traineeships, research stays, or graduate traineeships in Europe, which are funded by Erasmus+. Through the Med Uni Graz Freemover program, which promotes self-organized study-related stays abroad, numerous other students will gain experience abroad during the winter semester through clinical electives, CPY traineeships, or research stays.
On October 14, the International Office invited interested students to International Day to inform them about the many opportunities for study-related stays abroad. There was great interest, especially in the exchange of experiences with former exchange students. Another highlight on the International Day program was the final of the Med Uni Graz Abroad Photo Competition 2025. Congratulations to the winners!
For Med Uni Graz PhD and doctoral students, an information event on funding programs and options for research stays within and outside Europe took place at the end of September already. On October 16, Med Uni Graz employees also had the opportunity to find out about funded teaching or training stays abroad at a well-attended information stand.
As part of these events and with an Erasmus+ pub quiz, the International Office also celebrated #ErasmusDays, a Europe-wide initiative that highlights the diversity of the Erasmus+ program and recognizes the success of Erasmus+.
We wish all students and staff a pleasant stay and an inspiring time at Med Uni Graz or abroad!
