From 1 to 5 September 2025, the third XAI Summer School took place at the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University in Brno as part of the BioMedAI project. The event built on the success of the previous two years and offered an intensive programme focusing on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI).
Researchers, students and practitioners from across Europe came together to discuss the latest methods for trustworthy and interpretable AI. The programme included two specialist lectures and four hours of practical programming each day, supplemented by generous breaks that provided opportunities for discussion and networking.
Speakers included renowned experts from institutions such as Google Health (David Steiner), Charité – Berlin University Medical Centre (Norman Zerbe), Technical University of Berlin (Aray Karjauv), Medical University of Graz (Markus Plass) and specialists from Masaryk University and the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute.
The successful combination of lectures and practical exercises not only provided participants with in-depth knowledge, but also promoted interdisciplinary collaboration between computer science, data analysis and medicine.
The BioMedAI project – an initiative that promotes AI innovations in medicine and trains the next generation of specialists – is funded by the EU and will run until the end of October 20.
