For citizens of EU/EEA member states and Switzerland

Degree-programme students who do not exceed the prescribed duration of a bachelor's or master's programme, doctoral programme, an extension programme or one stage of a diploma degree programme by more than two semesters are not required to pay any tuition fees. These students will be required to pay the student union fee of € 24,70.

Degree-programme students who exceed the prescribed duration by more than two semesters will be required to pay a tuition fee for the respective semester. The tuition fee (€ 363,36) and the student union fee (€ 24,70) make up a total of € 388,06 in prescribed fees.

The deadline for the payment of the tuition fee and the student union fee for the first semester is the end of the admission period of the respective studies (cf. registration and admission). For the second semester or a later semester the deadline for the payment of the tuition fee and the student union fee is the end of the period for the registration for the continuation of studies.

If you are required to pay a tuition fee, in certain cases it is possible to apply for a waiver of the tuition fees. Information about the reasons for a waiver of the tuition fees can be found here.

For citizens from third party countries

Degree-programme students with a residence permit for students are required to pay the tuition fee (€ 726,72) and the student union fee (€ 24,70), in total € 751,42 for each semester.

The deadline for the payment of the tuition fee and the student union fee for the first semester is the end of the admission period of the respective studies (cf. registration and admission). For the second semester or a later semester the deadline for the payment of the tuition fee and the student union fee is the end of the period for the registration for the continuation of studies.

If you are required to pay a tuition fee, in certain cases it is possible to apply for a waiver of the tuition fees.

For degree-programme students to whom Austria is obliged under international treaties to accord the same rights to access to employment as Austrian citizens, degree-programme students belonging to a group of persons according to the Decree on Groups of Persons, as well as degree-programme students from third countries who have been granted another kind of residence permit than that for students, the same rules as for citizens of EU/EEA member states and Switzerland apply (see above).

In order to apply for an equalization of the tuition fees equivalent to those of Austrian citizens, it is necessary to present a valid residence permit (such as a “Aufenthaltsbewilligung-Forscher“, “Aufenthaltsbewilligung-Sonderfälle unselbständiger Erwerbstätigkeit“, „Rot-Weiss-Rot-Karte“) in person at the Division of Studies.

Please note that the university is not able to consider the equalization of the tuition fee automatically.

It is necessary that you send  the original of your residence permit, your Geneva Convention passport or an appropriate proof according to the Decree on Groups of Persons , in the first semester until the end of the admission period of the respective studies (cf. ) and in the second or a later semester until the end of the period for the registration for the continuation of studies (winter semester October 31st and summer semester March 31st ), to OU study management.(studium(at)medunigraz.at)

If you have a valid residence permit you can apply for a maximum of two semesters at once. Your residence permit has to be valid at least until October 31st if you want to apply for the winter semester and March 31st if you want to apply for the summer semester.

For non-degree seeking students

Non-degree-seeking students who have been admitted exclusively to individual courses in scientific subjects and for establishing the equivalency in the meaning of § 90 para 4 Universities Act (nostrification) are required to pay tuition fees in an amount of € 363,36 per semester irrespective of their nationality as well as the student union fee (€ 24,70), in total € 388,06.

The deadline for the payment of the tuition fee and the student union fee for the first semester is the end of the admission period of the respective studies (https://www.medunigraz.at/en/study-guidance/registration-and-admission). For the second semester or a later semester the deadline for the payment of the tuition fee and the student union fee is the end of the period for the registration for the continuation of studies.

Non-degree-seeking students who participate in certificate university programs for further education or at the university preparatory course are exempted from the payment of the tuition fee. They are required to pay the student union fee in the amount of € 24,70.
