Kurs

International short courses

International short courses on different scientific topics take place regularly at the Medical University of Graz and provide our international guests with an excellent opportunity for networking with Med Uni Graz experts and colleagues from around the world.

Two short courses are currently offered:

Kinderheilkunde

Educational courses in pediatric medicine

Students and trained doctors from abroad who are interested in a clinical rotation or an observership in the field of pediatric medicine have the opportunity to complete one of two educational courses in pediatric medicine at Med Uni Graz. The four-week courses are offered in English every February and July.

Overview

Target group

These courses are designed for medical students at different stages in their education and trained doctors from abroad. The goal is to facilitate a discussion between younger and more experienced participants.

Structure and content

Each course lasts four weeks and is a mixture of a clinical rotation/observership with bedside instruction and lectures in English.

  • Clinical rotation for students/observership for students and doctors
    • In February: at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at University Hospital Graz
    • In July: at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at University Hospital Graz or at the Division of Paediatric Radiology (for participants in CEEPUS Summer Academy of Paediatric Medicine only; see details below) at University Hospital Graz
  • Lectures
  • Interactive case discussions or research talks in English

Language skills

Sufficient knowledge of English is required for participation in an educational course in pediatric medicine. The afternoon lectures and case discussions are conducted in English. Communication within the department (between hospital staff and with patients) is in German. Supervisors translate the most important content into English. German skills are recommended but not required.

Conditions

  • Maximum 30 students/observers at the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine
  • In July, the Division of Paediatric Radiology (CEEPUS Summer Academy of Paediatric Medicine) can host ten additional CEEPUS scholarship recipients.
  • Five ECTS credits for enrolled students (not for observers)
  • Please note that you must furnish valid proof of immunization. You will receive more detailed information about this during the application process.
  • Course in February: Since influenza epidemics often occur during the winter months, it is strongly recommended that you receive an influenza vaccine before a stay in February.
  • Regardless of education and status in their home country, participants who are observers may not work with patients at the Med Uni Graz Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine (hands-off training).
